the model-inputs function. It is not always reliable to do processing
in the model-inputs function, since some slots which depend on your
intended modifications may already have been evaluated by the time the
model-inputs function runs.

You can override this function to do what you wish. It should return NIL if the object is found to be "sane" and an throw an error otherwise.
